Pushing your buttons?You are a kind, compassionate, and helpful person and you smile often. Does this guarantee that everybody will love you? Good question. Most people will love you for your caring and understanding nature. But there will always be experts in taking advantage of people such as you. They know which buttons to press - and when to press them. And their insincerity is often devilishly well concealed behind a mask of kindness, helpfulness, and empty words.

If someone is trying to take advantage of you, does that mean you should hit the brakes and steer clear of the person? No! You should do that only as a last resort - only after you have asked yourself some questions, such as: is this situation a one-of-a-kind event or part of a pattern? Have I overlooked any warning signs? Am I too concerned about being liked by everybody? Then look behind the motives of the person and draw your conclusions - but only concerning that person. Don't start doubting yourself and others around you. Remember the first sentence in this email?Is someone pushing your buttons? Investigate his or her real motives.
