Time for a 180º turnMany of us are always looking back to a land of lost opportunities. Our mind is filled with such thoughts as, "If only I had been more careful in managing my money" or "If only I had chosen a different career" or "If only I had accepted that job." If only, if only, if only! Well, here's some good news for us if-only people. Since it's impossible to change the past, we may as well get rid of our regrets and turn toward the future. We should stop looking in the rear view mirror and look ahead, instead. Looking ahead is more interesting anyway. And safer!

I recommend three steps for if-only people. First, close your eyes to the disappointing scene behind you, remembering only the lesson learned. Second, carefully turn 180 degrees. Third, open your eyes to a future full of potential and surprises: new prospects; beautiful places to visit; interesting job opportunities; and wonderful new friends to make. The past has passed, it is gone, it has vanished, and the only thing we have to remember is the lesson learned.Are you an if-only person?
